A succulent meal is so much more than the actual food itself.
It brings people together and creates memories that go way beyond what you taste. The Healthy Butcher meat and this comfort food recipe will bring to the table one part of a "memory in the making" for you.
One of my favorite childhood memories that I can picture as if it was
yesterday involves a crisp and cool, fall evening and a pot of short ribs.
The time for a summer barbeque was over and so my Aunt Dorthy served up an amazing plate of ribs in a way that I had never experienced before.
It was not a barbeque as I had expected when hearing
"We are going over to Dort's- she is having ribs for dinner!"
I’ll always remember the moment my aunt pulled the big pot out of the oven and lifted the cover. The aroma was intoxicating. My family was so content as we sat together eating, letting the dish warm us from the cool, crisp fall evening air.
To this day, I make these braised short ribs for one reason:
To bring back that feeling I got years ago.
When you're thinking about comfort food, the ‘comfort’ does not
come solely from the dish itself, but it also comes from the memories
embedded that you have associated with it.
So as the days are getting shorter and the night's are cooler we begin the traditions of gathering to eat inside for our harvesting meals.
I’m finding myself once again eager to make short ribs. However, this time
with a new and improved recipe…one that I believe you will love.
It includes caramelized horseradish potato puree!
